The biggest locked-phone confusion is carrier lock versus iCloud lock. Carrier-locked phones can be quoted. iCloud-locked, activation-locked, and passcode-locked devices are not accepted. Checking this before the meetup saves everyone time.
Quick lock-status checklist
This page is meant to prevent a common wasted trip: a seller thinks “locked” means carrier locked, but the device is actually activation locked or passcode locked.

Why this matters
Activation lock and passcode lock create ownership and verification problems. That is why Windy City Electronics does not accept those devices. Carrier lock is different and can still be part of a normal quote.
